Pack 61

Our Cub Scout Pack is comprised of 1st through 5th grade boys from more than two dozen schools throughout Northwest Washington, D.C. (private schools, government schools and home schooled children).  Our Pack is non-denominational and is fortunate to use dedicated meeting space provided by the Palisades Community Church (Cathedral Ave. NW at MacArthur Blvd.)  The day-to-day operations of the Pack are undertaken by independent and open-minded parents and volunteers who live in Northwest D.C.

As a Den (a small group of same-aged boys) the boys generally have meetings and field trips which are run by parents of the boys in each den.  There are always volunteers and experienced parents, "who have done this before", available to share tips and advice on den meetings and field trips.  Throughout the year, the boys work as a den toward earning achievements towards badges, ranks, motor skill development and personal growth.

As a Pack (a large group of more than 100 elementary school aged boys) the boys are recognized for their achievements, compete in races and go on camping trips with a parent or guardian.  Boys are recognized for their badges, rank and other successes at monthly pack meetings, an annual banquet in February and a June end-of-year ceremony. The pack also conducts a toy car race and a toy boat regatta during the year.  Once during the Autumn and once during the Spring, the Pack organizes an age-appropriate family camping trip; the Pack also assists in coordinating summer camp planning.

Pack 61 strives to give every Cub Scout a fun and exciting experience with a new group of friends.  Contact a parent to find out more.
